Vintage Rabari Mirrorwork Tribal Choli [rabari-choli001] $175.00
Brilliant Vaghadi Rabari choli from the Kutch of Gujarat. The Vaghadi now inhabit the eastern side of Kutch after migrating from Sindh roughly 500 years ago, the their dress tend to be more covered giving the influence of Islamic dress in Sindh. They are known for geometric and anthropomorphic embroidery rendered quite finely, highlighted by shaped mirror (shisha) work, these cholis are significantly more rare and heavily worked than their Banjara counterparts. Exceptional appeal to the ethnographic textile collector, but also wearable for dance - typically with a bit of alteration - these should be considered small if you are thinking in "standard" sizes!
Sleeve 18"x5.5" 18" top to bottom 11" across bust (flat) 20" bottom laid flat
