These antique and vintage Turkoman (from Central Asia) tassels are ornately beaded and wrapped/tied with silk and cotton. Originally they were used for tribal décor, including women’s hair adornments and were often used to decorate animal trappings as well. Most date from about 1940 to 1980 and are great to use for modern décor. Recently they have gained huge popularity in the Tribal Belly dance community as costume embellishments.
