They used to be quite common until more recent times, when western influence has changed many traditional arts and fashion including “shisha” embroidery. Each hand-made choli is made in 4-5 individual segments and put together for the final garment as you see pictured here. Most have seen a lot of authentic tribal wear and tear and others are in great condition. Please review the photos and measurement closely to see true condition. $26.00 These brightly embroidered mirror belts are hand made by tribal Banjara women in Northern India (Rajasthan). The mirrorwork, called "shisha" stitch, is made in the traditional way by glass craftsman who blow hot mirrored glass spheres that are then broken and snipped into small workable pieces before the embroidery. These mirror bands were originally made to be worn as a type of "veil weight" or headband.Use them to embellish costume pieces for Tribal Style Bellydance, wear with jeans or for home décor, the possibilities are endless. NOTE: Pictures show the piece folded in half so you can see the front and back hand-work in one picture. Mirrors may be cracked or missing from authentic tribal use.
