2 Finger Kuchi Tribal Dance Ring
$24.00

Large two finger tribal style ring. The design is based on traditional tribal jewelry from northern Pakistan and Afghanistan with a slightly modern twist. Fairly wide bands on the back.

Approximately Sized: 7 / 8 - wide band makes exact measuring difficult. The color is enamel.

2 Finger Old Silver Rajasthani Ring
$95.00

Two finger ring, Damna, from Rajasthan. These were worn by women on their two middle fingers, occasionally you also see them being worn on the toes. Its pretty heavy, but a good wearable size - and looks cool on - think "silver knuckles".

2" wide, 1-3/8" tall. The rings sizes are slightly smaller than 9 and 10

2 Finger Tukroman Ring with Turquoise
$175.00

Huge two finger silver ring with Turquoise and red agate. These were from a batch that we had custom made by a Turkoman silversmith in Peshawar. The quality and workmanship of these is fantastic. This is the second to last one we have, and doubt that we'll get these made again due to the cost of silver.

The finger openings are appx. size 7 and 7.5 - the width of the band usually means that slightly larger fingers will fit. The ring is 2" diameter and 3/4" tall.

3 Prong Kuchi Tribal Ring
$7.00

Kuchi nomad rings from Northern Pakistan. These rings are made by semi nomadic tribal people in Waziristan. Most show signs of authentic tribal wear. The metal used in most kuchi tribal jewelry is made from mixed metal alloys called "gillet". If you are into tribal style bellydance these rings are a must have accessory!

Size:8.5

Abalone Shell Button - Set of 3

We are selling them in sets, the ones shown here are the ones you get when ordering.

Aprox size: 2.25" - This set has large holes in the center, as well as the button holes for sewing on.

Amber and Silver Tuareg Ring
$130.00

Amber and Silver Tuareg ring, probably 20-30 years old. More than likely the amber (and bezel) had originally been 90 degrees different, many of these get reset as it fits most peoples preference to have the stone in line with the finger rather than perpendicular. The amber is a pleasant yellowy orange color, and the engraving on the silver work is quite nice.

Size: 9.5, setting is 7/8" x 1/2" x 3/4" tall and the band is about 3/8" wide

Ancient Glass Bead Tadjik Silver Ring
$65.00

This is a recent Tadjik silver ring, probably made by a refugee craftsman in Peshawar, Pakistan. The silver design is fairly traditional and well worked, it has been set with an ancient glass bead. The oldest beads used date to Greek times (Alexander) the newer ones tend to date to the early Islamic period in Central Asia (over 1000 years old.) Interesting piece, would have been made as a man's ring. - Very cool design on the sides of the band

Size 8.5, 3/8" tall

Ancient Looking Kuchi Short Cuff
$22.00

Anklet Pair with Tribal Coin Dangles
$45.00

Pair of vintage tribal anklets from the northern part of Pakistan or southern band of Afghanistan. These are made from mixed metal, locally called gillet; typically a mixture of brass, copper, nickel, tin, and sometimes a small amount of silver. These are made by the village crafts people of the region and are worn through out the area. The design is very similar to anklets found through out Pakistan and northwest India (especially the silver work of Rajasthan.) They are old and show some signs of wear / use, they have been newly backed with cotton for more comfortable wearing.

2-1/2" tall, 9" total length at top, they flair slightly. No clasp, so they slip over the ankle

Antique Art Nouveau Design Print Block
$17.00

This style of wooden print block is hand carved from a piece of dense wood such as Acacia or Rosewood. The vast majority of this type of block printing is now being done with metal blocks and the old wooden ones are rapidly being destroyed or sold. This type of block is found throughout south and central Asia, this style is is more typical of the northern parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Though they could as easily come from Sindh where there is a large industry making cotton Ajraks. These were either used with Ink for direct printing or wax for batik. They have been coated to make them water resistant, we have found that brushing them with mineral spirits will remove some of the darkness.

They make great display pieces, and can be creatively used for a variety of crafts, printing of course but we have seen them used wonderfully in ceramics applications as well.

Size:4.5" x 3.5"

Antique Baluch Embroidered Belt - Stunning!
$220.00

Fantastic antique Baluch belt from the early 20th century. Its long so it was either a very large man who wore it (possible) or was worn more like a sash. The quality of work and the silver and turquoise end pieces would suggest that it was worn by someone of importance and status, this would have predominantly figured into their wardrobe. The turquoise appears to be from the mines around Meshed, Iran, the embroidery looks like the work from the Baluchistan region of Pakistan (at that time India.)
Very good condition for the age, a few of the mirrors are cracked, the sequins tarnished, some wear to the embroidery and backing cloth, all things to be expected for a piece that was worn and made 80-100 years ago.

Antique Central Asian Patchwork Textile
$45.00

This is a well constructed and designed patch work textile from the mid to early 20th century, comprised of old (19th century) textile fragments. This type of assemblage was a common way to reuse worn textiles and create a decorative piece. Unfortunately this piece has seen better days, it would be suitable for display on a wall or table top and is an interesting study in the range of locally made and imported textile available in Central Asia at the time. Obvious condition issues that are quite clear in the photos (fading, holes, tares, and stains.)

Central Asian Textile Bag
$75.00

This type of bag was made for tourist sale, both in Peshawar by Afghan refugees and in the ex-Soviet Central Asian republics. The face of the bag is an authentic, and in this case very nice, old Central Asian patch work textile made with two varieties of antique Ikat (silk and silk and cotton blend - the more coveted of the two,) embroidered bands, and velvet which would have been a valuable trade item. The backing of the original textile mid-20th century piece of Russian trade cloth, and the backing of the bag as well as the straps are a late 20th century cloth.

Most of this sort of bag are usually lacking much appeal but this one is pretty nice, and interesting to illustrate a few generations of reuse, from the original 100 plus year old textiles, to turning them into a patch work 40-50 years ago, then creating a bag to sell, 10-20 years ago.

Inticate Old Wooden Printblock
$16.00
